Train Brain

The Train Brain is the MinEx training newsletter - an easy way to stay up to date with training opportunities. It also gives you Train Tips on how to access useful information. It's a no brainer that training is the way to make sure you and your workmates or staff go home safe every day.

Safety Alerts

These provide a flow of information from health and safety authorities in New Zealand and Australia, with details of recent incidents provided to alert other industry operators to hazards and unsafe practices.


MinEx produces a regular newsletter which summaries health and safety trends and information. 


Minerals Forum


The New Zealand Minerals Forum is a two-day conference and exhibition to be held in Queenstown, May 29-30, 2018. It attracts high-level attendance from mining companies, government regulators and agencies, the investment community and service companies.

The programme features leading local and international speakers, presenting on topics including:

  • Mineral investment opportunities
  • Exclusive industry announcements
  • Regulatory roadmap guidance and understanding the new government coalition
  • Environmental compliance and showcasing of best practice
  • Leadership and direction for the mining sector in New Zealand.

Four streams are included in the main conference programme: Mine Managers' Forum; Coal Users' Forum; Investment Opportunities; Scale Aggregates and Industrial Minerals. They will provide a range of training opportunities to upskill and gain required industry accreditations and CPD hours.

The conference has a substantial trade exhibition. Social functions will include the Welcome Function on Monday 28 May, sponsored by Komatsu, and the Minerals Sector Awards gala dinner on Tuesday 29 May, sponsored by Gough Cat.

Extractives Training and Supervision Forum

WorkSafe and MinEx are bringing together an all-day workshop to equip extractives sector decision-makers with tools and knowledge to achieving best practice training and supervision.

The extractives industry encompasses workers in the Mining, Alluvial and Quarrying and Tunnelling industries.  It’s designed for quarry and mine managers, supervisors and Site Senior Executives.  

There will be some top people there including WorkSafe’s new COO Phil Parkes and Paul Sutton from the IOQ Australia.
